Yesler Terrace Civic Engagement Workshops

Yesler Terrace redevelopment seems to be moving forward rapidly. Can Yesler Terrace residents still have a voice at the table? The Yesler Terrace Community Council and Rainier Unitarian Universalist Center are joining together to sponsor a series of workshops to help residents find out about their rights, how they can influence decisions, and what options may be possible. These changes will directly affect the future homes of Rainier Valley UU Congregation and over 1,200 of our neighbors. We want to provide a context for learning more about this process so that Yesler Terrace residents will be in the best position to negotiate for their own well being and that of their families.

Each event will include interpreters for speakers of Chinese, Vietnamese, Tigrinya, Somali, and other languages. Free childcare will be available. Each of the presenting groups will allow time for questions and for generating ideas. The forum at the end will be a time to come together to form a strategy for being effective in the planning process, which will resume in the spring.

Your help is needed to make these workshops successful and help live out RVUUC's commitment to multicultural community. For more info, talk with Rosemary Adang, Mike Wold, or Kristin O'Donnell.
