Our purpose is to build a compassionate faith community which is multicultural in membership and celebration and which works for justice in our neighborhoods, our city, and the wider world.

All individuals and all families
welcomed and celebrated!

WORK PARTIES - FINAL PUSH!
10 am to 4 pm at 7141 California Ave SW

There are lots of opportunities to pitch in and make friends with the Westside UU community as we prepare the new building for its first service on Sun, Sept 12. Come any Saturday at 10 am and someone will find a job for you, including painting, cleaning, sorting, ripping out carpet, and more.

CLUSTER PICNIC AT LINCOLN PARK
Sat, Sept 18 starting at 3 pm

All are invited to join the Rainier Valley/Central Area UU Cluster at Lincoln Park shelter #3 (on the beach) from 3 to 10 pm on Sat, Sept 18. The site includes a fireplace, two grills, and four tables. Please bring a dish to share. We will start grilling at 4 pm. Festivities include all kinds of fun in the sun — playground, bocce ball, sidewalk chalk, and more. Bring an instrument and make a joyful noise!

JOINING THE CONGREGATION
If you feel ready to join Westside as a member, there will be a special welcoming ceremony during the service on Sun, Sept 19. If you haven't yet attended an orientation (required to become a member), there is one on Wed, Sept 15 at 7 pm. Orientations are also held on the first Sunday of every month after the soup lunch (Oct 3, Nov 7, Dec 5 at 12:30 pm).

WE'RE JOINING WITH WESTSIDE UU CONGREGATION!

Since February the members and friends of RVUUC have been in a process to determine the future of the congregation. In April we voted to join with Westside UU Congregation, and on June 13 we voted to dissolve RVUUC's charter. This community now participates in services on Sunday mornings at Westside.

Sun, Sept 5 at 10:30 am at Westside (7141 California Ave SW)
LET'S GO HOME!

Let's gather at our new home for a special program and community breakfast. After breakfast and our program, we will view the building at our leisure. Children can explore and find their classrooms! Coffee, tea, pancakes, scrambled eggs, butter, and syrup will be provided. Bring potluck items of your choice such as fresh fruit, juice, baked favorites, breakfast meats or vegetarian substitutes.

Sun, Sept 12 at 10:30 am at Westside
LET THIS BE A HOUSE OF PEACE
Today we celebrate our first service in our new home. President Paula vanHaagen will welcome everyone to our new church home, and Rev. Peg will share hopes for the next chapter in the life of our congregation. This will be a service of great joy and a historical moment for us all. It is also the first Sunday of the children's religious exploration classes.

CARPOOLING TO WESTSIDE
We are still working out the fine points of our carpooling system. Most Sundays we will have two pick-up points for people who want a ride to Westside UU Congregation:

For carpool questions or to confirm pick-up, check with Kristin (930-6228).

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! In May 2008, Chris McEwen created a lovely slide show of many of the people and activities that shaped the congregation's first decade. You can watch the slide show at:
